Project Scope
The City of Daytona Beach partnered with IM Solutions to deliver modern audiovisual and collaboration technology as part of the new Fire Station #1 Headquarters. The new $27 million facility replaced the City’s historic Fire Station #1, the oldest continuously operating fire station in Florida, and was designed to support the Fire Department’s continued growth and evolving operational needs.
As the design-build technology partner working alongside Wharton-Smith, IM Solutions collaborated with the City of Daytona Beach IT Department and Fire Department personnel from the early planning stages to assess operational needs, define audiovisual system requirements, and engineer technology solutions tailored to the facility and its users.
From system engineering through construction coordination, installation, programming, commissioning, and training, IM Solutions managed the full technology lifecycle. Integrated AV and collaboration systems were deployed throughout the Community Room, conference rooms, administrative offices, and other shared and operational spaces.
Key Project Objectives
- Support emergency coordination and EOC operations
- Enable hybrid meetings and video conferencing
- Simplify system operation for Fire Department and City personnel
- Deliver reliable technology for daily and emergency operations
- Support community meetings, trainings, and presentations
SOLUTION:
IM Solutions delivered a fully integrated audiovisual and collaboration solution designed around the specific needs of each space.
The 90-seat Community Room serves as the centerpiece of the AV deployment and is designed to serve as the City’s primary Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during disasters and emergencies, while also supporting meetings, training, presentations, and community use. Large-format direct-view LED displays, Crestron NVX video distribution, Q-SYS and Shure audio systems, and Crestron control provide a flexible technology platform for the room’s multiple uses.
Throughout the facility, interactive displays, wireless presentation, hybrid meeting technology, and display systems support communication and collaboration across conference rooms, offices, and operational spaces.
Key Technologies:
- Emergency Operations & Professional AV – Large-format direct-view LED displays, Crestron AV-over-IP distribution, Q-SYS audio processing, Shure microphones, and SoundTube speakers provide the visualization, audio, and collaboration capabilities needed for emergency coordination, training, presentations, and community use.
- Integrated System Control – Crestron control systems simplify operation and provide a consistent user experience across integrated AV technology.
- Hybrid Collaboration – Interactive displays, wireless presentation, USB connectivity, and conferencing technology support in-person and remote collaboration.
- Facility-Wide Technology – Displays and collaboration technologies across conference rooms, administrative offices, shared spaces, and operational areas support communication throughout the facility.
RESULTS & IMPACT:
The completed AV systems provide the City of Daytona Beach and Fire Department personnel with reliable, intuitive technology that supports daily operations and emergency response. The Community Room can transition between its everyday uses and its critical role as the City’s primary Emergency Operations Center during disasters and emergencies.
Delivered through close collaboration with Wharton-Smith, the City of Daytona Beach IT Department, and Fire Department personnel, the solution was designed around the City’s infrastructure requirements and the operational needs of a modern public safety facility.
